HOPE’s annual Fair Housing Month celebrations (one in Broward County, one in Miami-Dade County) are quickly approaching!  Here are details:

 

Broward County event, “Championing our Future”

Friday, April 7, 2017 · Signature Grand, 6900 State Road 84, Davie, FL 33317

8:30am – 2:30pm: Workshop, followed by luncheon

The 2017 Broward County Fair Housing Celebration is HOPE Fair Housing Center’s annual fair housing education workshop and luncheon for Broward County housing providers, agencies, and industry professionals.

Miami-Dade County event, “Opening Doors”

Friday, April 28, 2017 · Jungle Island, 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, Miami, FL 33132

9:00am – 9:30am: Workshop registration

9:30am – 12:00pm: FREE Workshop

-Mapping Affordable Housing in South Florida – presented by Jorge Damian de la Paz, Program Manager, University of Miami Office of Civic and Community Engagement

-Miami and the State of Low- and Middle-Income Housing – presented by Diana Elliott, Senior Research Associate, Urban Institute

12:00pm – 2:00pm: Luncheon

Keynote – Erin New, Esq., Division Director, Miami-Dade County Office of Human Rights & Fair Employment Practices. The Office promotes equal opportunity in employment, housing, public accommodations, credit and financing practices, family leave, and domestic violence leave. The Office works in partnership with all County departments, the Florida Commission on Human Relations, and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Ms. New’s remarks will cover the impact of housing discrimination on Miami-Dade’s vulnerable populations, such as immigrants.
